The annual Ottawa-Carleton District School Board Director's Awards event was held on May 12th, 2011 at the Board Office. This event included three Rideau High School staff who received awards. Geordie Walker, Principal, and Wendy Lamble, School Counsellor, were recipients of the Director's Citation Award. This award recognizes outstanding and significant contributions to the District and its students, over an extended period of time, showing a level of imagination, enthusiasm, and professionalism that constitutes a worthy model for others. As the principal of Rideau High School, Mr. Walker approaches challenging situations with confidence and respect for others, allowing everybody to be heard. Ms. Lamble brings a vast array of skills, including effective restorative practices and cultural proficiency to support students. Stephen McCormick was the recipient of the Mentoring Award. This award recognizes outstanding contribution and support to the Mentoring Program which significantly impacts the development of beginning employees. Mr. McCormick, through his tireless work ethic and respect for all students and staff, has been a positive role model for the students and staff at Rideau High School and the community members.
